World Foundations

I've never been so happy to be done with a class.

I honest to goodness have zero idea what I was supposed to learn from this class.
Honest to goodness.
But I had to take it for some general. Actually they call them foundations here.

Anyways, I learned some random, interesting facts about some world religions.
That's about all that was good.

Worst professor I've ever had. Unfortunately.

This is my blog so I'm about to step up on my soap box here for a second.
If you choose to become a professor or teacher, maybe you should want to teach.
There should be some element of wanting to help your students.
And also the University should hire professors who are capable of teaching that subject,
instead of ones who answer "I don't know" to 95% of the questions their asked.
It just BLOWS my mind.

Off the soap box now.
I finished the last assignment today and went to the last class.
DONE. Never felt so good.

A Baptism

On Saturday we had the opportunity to go to the baptism of our landlord.

He came over to bring Breck some tools about two weeks ago.
Randomly he just says, "Oh yeah, I'm being baptized in two weeks. If you guys want to come."

I shot Breck a look of pure shock. I was very confused.
We had no idea that he wasn't even a member!
He's the one who told us where are ward met and how great it was.
He is there every week with his family and seemed to be actively involved in the ward.

After I got over the shock, I was so extremely excited for him.
And for his family.

His baptism was so great. The look on his children's faces as he came up from the water was priceless.
He had a grin from ear to ear. And I don't think anything could have made any of the family members happier.
I cried. Which really isn't anything new. But still.
It was amazing.

It got me thinking about how wonderful the gospel is. And how great my Heavenly Father is.
He wants us to be with Him, and He'll wait as long as it takes for us to figure it out.
Our opportunities to get back to Him doesn't go away. He is constantly giving us more opportunities
and blessing us way beyond we deserve. I know that I am incredibly blessed.
I am so thankful for my heavenly Father and for all that He blesses me with.

I don't know if this is bad. But I always feel a twinge of jealousy when I see someone get baptized.
How I wish I could be completely clean again in an instant.
But we're lucky enough to have the atonement that can get us there.
Heavenly Father's plan is so amazing.

One-Upping (Primary Edition)

We teach the six year old Primary class in our ward.
There are three sweet girls, and two competitive boys.
Seriously, they compete over everything.

It's so funny to over hear their conversations about how cool they are compared to the other.

Some of my favorite conversations have been:

Gabe: "I taught my little brother to do a flip"
Scotty:  "I can do a handstand."
Gabe: "I can do a handstand for 20 seconds."
Scotty: "I can do one for 40 seconds."
Gabe: "Cool."

Scotty: "I had a paper cut."
Gabe: "I had two."

Okay, maybe they're not as funny written out like this. That happens to me a lot.
But it's hilarious in class.

This past fast Sunday we witnessed the ultimate one-upping from these two.

Gabe got up with his Mom to bear his testimony in Sacrament meeting.
He was so sweet and was eager to have his Mom help him.

About three or four people later Scotty got up to bear his testimony.
BY HIMSELF.
He was also very sweet and had a look of smug satisfaction as he sat back down.

They compete in everything. But aren't mean to each other. At least we've got that going for us.

Now we try to have them sit on opposite sides of the room.
Just to lessen the competition a little bit.
I love Primary.

Randoms

I've got just a few things on my mind...

1. I spent the majority of last week thinking that BYU-Idaho is the most unhelpful place I have ever been.
For two main reasons: Financial aid and advisers.

I've gone into and called the financial aid office more times in the two months I've been at this school than in all my two and a half years in Provo. It has been incredibly frustrating. But with four weeks left in the semester, I think I just have one more set of paperwork to turn in.. Then my financial aid can come in. If only someone told me the right things to do four months ago when I started calling......

We had to register last week for next semester and neither of us really had a clue what would be the best options for us with all of our random transfer credits. I was able to get some help fairly quickly. But Breck talked to six different people just to get a straight answer out of someone. I think he's got a good plan now by combining the little bits of good information from each person. Seriously crazy how difficult it was to find one helpful person in this whole place.

I know no school is perfect and we'd have some type of issue no matter where we go. But my goodness it was a frustrating week for us at school. I do really like many things about BYU-I thought.
Just not either of those departments. Ha.

2. I want to be a school adviser. I'm a little discouraged by our experiences though... I want to work in a high school though. Maybe it's better there. Hopefully. I'll be helpful though.

3. I love our primary class. We had ward conference yesterday so we didn't have to go to primary. And I actually missed them. I think I'll write about some of the funny things that they've said in class.

4. Rexburg was like a whole new world on Saturday. Apparently forty is the magic degree to turn this town upside down. That's how warm it was and there were a million people out and about. I think I'm going to like it here this summer:)

5. We're going home for spring break. I cannot wait. And my sisters might come here the week before that. Could I be more excited? NO.

6. That's all..

Visit

You know what else we got to do while we were on Honeymoon #2?
Visit Provo!!!!!!!!

Okay.. I don't really miss Provo. Only a few things.
Like all my siblings. Remember how last semester they weren't there?
But this semester they are? Booooo on them.
Just kidding.

We made them all meet us at our favorite of favorite places in Provo.
5 Star BBQ, visit here to see how amazing.
It's the other thing I miss about Provo.

It was some awesome food and some awesome time with my brothers and Megan.
The boys left much too quickly for me to get a picture.
But...

Megan didn't!!

Thanks for meeting up with us guys. We miss you!
Move to Rexburg please:)

Example

My Mom LOVES my Dad.
My Dad LOVES my Mom.
And today is their anniversary.
Happy 24 years and a million more even better ones!

I remember when I realized my parents really, truly loved each other.
I was a sophomore in high school. I was sitting at the table talking to my Mom.
She was in the kitchen finishing up dinner and doing the dishes.
My Dad came home from work and was obviously tired. He put his backpack away
and then went straight to the kitchen to hug and kiss my Mom.
And then he asked what he could do to help, she said he could help by relaxing before dinner.

This probably happened everyday. But for some reason this time it hit me.
They love each other.
I know my Mom would have much rather been reading instead of making dinner, but she knew my Dad would be tired and hungry when he got home.
I know my Dad would have much rather sat right down and turned on a basketball game, but he knew my Mom would want to talk to him for a little.

I'm so lucky that I know my parents love each other and wouldn't be anywhere else.
I'm so lucky that my parents support each other.
I'm so lucky that they have the most beautiful friendship.

I stole a picture of my parents on their wedding day this summer
and it's been on my bulletin board ever since.
It makes me laugh because my Dad has hair
and I remember how he hated my Mom's hair that day.
But mostly it reminds me of the type of marriage I want.

I wish everyone in the world could have a marriage like my parents.
The world would be such a better place.

I love you Mom and Dad. Thanks for being the best example to me.
I hope you have a wonderful day today, you deserve it!

Honeymoon #2

About a month ago, (holy bad blog updater), we went on our "second honeymoon".
We had some leftover money from our budgeted money.
Our favorite, (or maybe just mine..), Brad Paisley was going to be playing in Salt Lake right around one month.
Breck decided it would be a good idea to celebrate making it one month.
That's a long time you know.

So we headed on down to Utah land.
And I was oh so excited.

When Breck found out I loved Brad Paisley when we first started dating he bought us
tickets to his concert at the Gorge. Super.
What was not so super was the fact that I'd already be back in Provo.
So what did the great man do? He surprised me with two tickets to go see him in Salt Lake.
We'd both seen his last tour, but separate. It was so fun to go together this time.

We seriously love Brad Paisley.
And we seriously love the drunk people watching that occurs at country music concerts.
And this is seriously the look we gave the poor girl who was so wasted before the show even got close to starting. Bless that sweet rhythm-impaired soul.
She did keep us entertained during The Band Perry, (we seriously don't love them).

Speaking of everyone being drunk and holding up their beer cups at every opportunity...
We felt a little out of place. So we decided to do something about it....
 Bought these bad boys.
BYU-I approved??

The concert was a blast. I sang along the whole time. And my ears were ringing when we left.

Another reason we came down to Utah was to go to the Salt Lake Temple for the first time.
Good plan. Minus the part where it was closed for maintenance.
Draper Temple it was! Loved it just as much.

I thought we were staying in the same hotel both nights, but that tricky Breck had a different idea.
After our session at the Temple he took me downtown just a few blocks from Temple Square to an adorable little bed and breakfast. What a little sneak.

The whole weekend was so fun and a perfect getaway from school.
And the perfect way to celebrate a whole month of marriage and no hatred!

Also... We love the Mariners.
